The German auto major, BMW has silently added a new petrol variant to its 7-series Indian line-up, 740Li Design Pure Excellence Signature at a price of INR 1.26 Crore, ex-showroom Delhi. This less expensive 7-series variant is the first petrol variant of the range which will be assembled locally in Chennai, India. The other 7-series models which are also assembled in India are 730Ld DPE, 730Ld DPE Signature and the 730Ld M Sport.
Mechanically, the new 740Li 7-series luxury sedan is powered by a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder turbocharged motor which is coupled to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox. The mill produces the immense power of 326 PS and the massive torque of 450 Nm. It is capable of hitting 100 kmph mark in just 5.6 seconds from a standstill. It offers a claimed fuel economy of 12.5 kmpl.
On the exterior, the Design Pure Excellence package on 740Li adds chrome with grey struts inserts on the brand's signature kidney-shaped grille, chrome finished exhaust pipes, chrome accent on some other elements on the rear, and black brake callipers with the BMW emblem. The luxury sedan features BMW’s laser light LED headlamps with several advanced functions such as cornering, adaptive and auto-high beam, and also includes headlamp washer. The other important details include dynamic damper control with infinite and independent damping, auto start-stop, brake energy regeneration, and carbon core body construction. Besides electrically operable, the wing mirrors come with a heating function to avoid mist during the cold.
Step inside and you will be welcomed by a number of luxurious elements. The 740Li DPE signature is loaded with a slew of comfort and convenience features such as 4-zone climate control system, massaging seats, ambient lighting and BMW gesture control. BMW offers this luxurious sedan in four exterior colour options - Black Sapphire, Cashmere Silver, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, and Mineral White.
On the safety front, it is loaded with front, side and head airbags. Several driving assist features of the BMW 740Li DPE Signature include Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control and Cornering Brake Control.
Launched at a comparatively low price, BMW 740Li DPE Signature is one of more accessible 7-series models rather than the 750Li and M Sport as both the models are imported as CBU (Complete Built Unit).
