More Powerful And Sportier 2019 BMW X4 Gets Launched

The much-awaited second-gen BMW X4 has finally been launched. The BMW German Automaker has launched two variants of the elegant SUV-coupe. The first is a Rs 60.60 lakh four-cylinder diesel variant, while the second is the Rs 65.90 top-spec six-cylinder diesel model. Both variants will be offered in M Sport X design package.

Power and Transmission

The two X4 variants i.e  xDrive20d and xDrive30i will carry 2.0-litre four-cylinder 190 hp  and  3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder 265 hp diesel engines respectively. Transmission duties on both the 4WD trims will rest on an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In addition to this, the variants will also get BMW’s drive mode select system. This will give four drive modes – Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ for X4 lovers.

M Sport X

The M Sport X design package brings a host of sportier features to the second-gen X4 trims. The primary among these is the M Sport body kit with side skirts,  large 19-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust, rear diffuser element, and a roof-mounted spoiler.

The Inside

On the inside, the new BMW X4 boasts of uptown design and features. The equipment list includes a panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, adaptive suspension, Multi-option Ambient Lighting. For entertainment the two trims are fitted with  BMW’s iDrive infotainment system with 10.25-inch touchscreen display, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surrounds sound system and a heads-up display. 

In addition to the above sportier driver and front passenger seats with Welcome-Carpet-Lights and Blue M Sport brake calipers with M logo add to the novelty and appeal. 

BMW X4 Safety

On the safety front, the SUV-coupe gets six airbags (Front, Side, and Overhead) as standard. The highlights though are Anti-whiplash feature, Pretensioners, stability control, Attentiveness Assist, ABS brakes, and Isofix child seat mounts.

On Indian roads, the new X4 trims will lock horns with niche SUV-coupe like Mercedes-Benz GLC which carries a Rs 78 lakh price tag. BMW has been the flagbearer for the niche SUV-coupe segment. Its X6 was the first offering in this segment. The X4 SUV-Coupes is the first among a line up of new offerings from the German Automakers factory for the Indian audience. Other much-awaited offerings include the all-new Z4 roadster, the range-topping 8 Series Coupe and new BMW 3 Series.
