As summers have started flaunting their scary side already, we wonder how far it is going to do same in the forthcoming days. People prefer staying at their homes to relish the cosiness in their air-conditioned rooms and avoid to face the heat outside. Those who have to reach their workplaces on time have no choice, but to experience the aggressive sun. Riding on two wheels during the peak sunny hours feels like hell. Though, many of the riders try to cover themselves by hand gloves, summer coats, helmets and balaclavas, but, these all are temporary solutions. The effect of sun rays drizzles down their veins entirely. At least, Nagpur is now safe in this aspect. The authorities have come up with a desi jugaad to protect their riders from this hot summer season.
To bear the threshold 40-degree celsius temperature of the city, the regional authorities have placed cool shades at the traffic signals. This green cloth shelter appears to be the one, which we use to protect the plants from UV radiations. The initiative looks very impressive and getting huge applause from the masses as well. They prefer to stay in the shed for a couple of extra minutes even if the signal clears down. Albeit, the idea is undoubtedly very appealing and the authorities deserve a huge round of applause for bringing such a nice concept, but, these temporary solutions are not going to work for a long period of time. We have to boost up the audience for planting trees and conduct tree planting campaigns. Encourage them to save the blues.
An ample number of problems can be solved by our one single step and that is- plant a tree. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”.
