The legendary Italian manufacturer, Ducati has launched its flagship motorcycle, the Ducati Superleggera 1299 in India. One of the most powerful and technically sound motorcycles will be retailed at a massive price sticker of INR 1.12 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Looking at the price of the bike, the majority of Indian audience will think twice before buying this one. But by learning about the specs, we hope the price tag really justifies the manufacturer.
If talk about the power-to-weight ratios, the Superleggera 1299 is a perfect illustration, because with just a 167-kilogram weight, it is fast and responsive. Most of its hardware components such as chassis, subframe, swingarm, and wheels are made of carbon fibre to keep the bike’s weight low.
As far as the powertrain concerned, the Ducati 1299 Superleggera is equipped with a 1285cc Superquadro L-twin engine that is rated to deliver 215bhp and breathes out propelled power through an Akrapovic titanium race-spec exhaust system. The other prominent cycle parts such as suspension and braking setup are taken from the Ohlins and Brembo respectively. Moreover, the improved electronic package is containing lots of utilities like six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) manages the rider aids like the traction control, slide control, launch control and cornering ABS, to enhance the riding experience.
Produced in limited numbers of 500 units, the Ducati Superleggera is an exclusive product at an astronomical price tag. As per the sources, it has known that Ducati India has already received a few booking for the bike. However, the Ducati’s Indian subsidiary has not revealed the exact numbers. Here in India, the motorcycle will compete in this premium sports segment with the other available products like the Panigale R and the MV Agusta F4 RC, which are more affordable and available to retail at INR 50.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
