India-Bound Toyota Vios Facelift Launched in Thailand

2017 Toyota Vios facelift which is believed to be the India-bound unit, has been unveiled in the global markets. The refreshed model gets some tweaks to the design, more technical features inside the cabin and the same engine option under the hood. Meanwhile, prices have also been revised. The base model “J” is now available at the price of 609,000 baht (increased by 10,000 baht), mid-spec “E” and “G” are priced at 679,000 baht (Increased by 10,000) and 729,000 baht (increased by 15,000) respectively and the top-end-spec now stands at 789,000 baht with the hike of 40,000 baht.

Let’s first talk about the designing tweaks here. The facelift Vios sedan you see here comes with a redesigned face that more or less a replica of the all-new Camry Hybrid, launched recently in the global markets. Gone is the larger chrome grille which connects the headlamps together, now there is redesigned bumper and more sleeker-looking front grille that's flanked by new LED lights. Moreover, the top-spec variant now runs at revamped 16-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the refreshed Toyota Vios sedan houses an updated instrument cluster along with a revised 7-inch infotainment system with a touchscreen display and smartphone connectivity, steering mounted audio controls and climate control. For safety, the automaker offered features like dual front SRS airbags, ISOFIX rear child seat mounts, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), traction control,  reverse camera, and vehicle stability control.

Under the hood, the 2017 Vios Sedan is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine capable of making out 108 Bhp of power at 6000 rpm with 140 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. For the Indian auto segment, the Japanese automaker Toyota has been testing this car in its pre-facelift form for quite some time. It is yet to be confirmed officially, but, the automaker may bring this unit to here in the market sometime later in this year. Upon its launch, it will compete with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
