Jeep Small SUV May Get Fiat Panda Platform

FCA, the parent company will declare the five-year plan on June 1, 2018, and confirm the date as well about the SUV to launch.

Jeep is continuously studying the new SUV which will take a position below the Renegade concerning global market line-ups. This new SUV will be destined for Europe along with other markets also and will be Jeep’s entry-level variant.

Jeep CEO Mike Manley said, “A smaller car than the Renegade is very interesting to us and we are actively looking at the project now.” The Renegade platform shared by the Fiat 500X can get some tweaks to be added in a small model, the compact dimensions are expected to take a fresh and lighter platform.

He further said, “We’ve seen the general move in Europe towards smaller SUVs, and there could also be a market in Latin America.”

The platform strategy of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) hints that the small Jeep will share the Fiat model’s platform with Panda city car as well.
