Mahindra Electric, the Electric Vehicle subsidiary of the native automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra is about to launch a more powerful and updated version of its nature oriented e20 car in the country. While the launch is expected to happen in later this month, one of the teasers has already been posted online and surfaced its name as well. The more efficient version of the unit will be labeled as e20 plus. One of the test mules covered by heavy cladding over its body has also been caught on camera.
The name here e20plus is an amalgamation of two different meanings where the e20 is standing for energy to oxygen and the plus stand for the positive contribution that the car will make in the lives of customers. Besides, it comes with an extended wheel option so that it can be offered with more legroom space inside the cabin. Apart from these, the vehicle is likely to come up with four door facility.
Visiting the teaser, it will house vertically positioned tail lights with LED elements, standard tailgate with a redesigned spoiler, and flared wheel arches. Inside the cabin, it is expected to retain the regular features including digital instrument cluster, infotainment system with a touchscreen display and smartphone connectivity, air-con, and others.
In terms of powertrains, the ongoing e20 is packed with a 3-phase induction motor complimented by a 48V lithium ion based battery. Having this motor, it can pull the car with a maximum power of 25.4 bhp and 53.9 Nm of torque. Mated to an automatic transmission box, it can run up to 120 km on a single charge and can do a maximum speed of 81 km/h. Such features can be lead the new version as well.
According to Pravin Shah, Director of Mahindra Electric, “The e2oPlus is all about positive additions. We have incorporated additional space – something that would delight our customers. We have also added extra range and fast charging, among other very interesting ‘pluses’. I am confident that this new model will be a game changer not only in the electric vehicles segment but also among all other categories of cars”.
