Maruti Set to Manufacture More Vehicles solely without involving Suzuki

After successfully exporting the India-made Maruti Baleno to Japan, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has decided to develop more products independently without involving Suzuki. However, Maruti will develop around three to four vehicles after the introduction of Maruti Vitara Brezza. With the launch of Vitara Brezza at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the Indian brand Maruti is set to target the average Indian consumers and will make more domestic vehicles in the coming years.

However, the future products will be using Suzuki’s engines and platforms, in spite of developing them from scratch. By the year 2020, the automaker has planned to introduce more than 15 new products in India.

Moreover, Maruti is using its Rohtak based R&D centre worth INR Rs 2,500 crore for the testing. The full-fledged operation of the test track is likely to commence by the upcoming year 2017.
