Maruti Swift Diesel AMT To be Launched By Late 2016

It has been reported that the leading domestic carmaker, Maruti Swift will be launching the Swift Diesel AMT in India by the end of this year. It is said that the carmaker will use the duly tested the Magneti Marelli AMT transmission.

However, Maruti Suzuki already launched the diesel variant for the Swift Dzire compact sedan with the automatic manual transmission a year before. As of now, the automaker is set to launch the best selling Swift model with the similar AMT transmission.

The Swift Dzire and Swift hatchback will be powered by the familiar Fiat sourced 1.3-litre Multijet DDiS engine that is claimed to produce a maximum power output of 75PS along with a peak torque of 190Nm. Since the mechanical fitting is similar, the only difference lied with the AMT transmission, which is not so hard job for the carmaker.

Maruti Celerio was the company’s first car to offer AMT transmission engine for the first time. The car has made a good consumer base in less time and the engine has marked itself popular and successful in the market. The sales chart shows that the company sold around 54,700 AMT equipped cars in the FY 2015-16.

The Swift hatchback is known for its stream design and efficient engine in the Indian market. It topped the hatchback segment in April by the sales of around 15,000 units. The carmaker aims that the addition of the AMT with add and advantage to the model and increase the demand eventually.

The Swift Dzire AMT is likely to priced higher than the ongoing model. It will cost 50K more than the existing car’s price. We are expecting the new version to be priced around INR 8 Lakhs (ex-showroom price).
