Mercedes GLS Luxury SUV to Launch on May 18 This Year

Mercedes is all set to launch its seven-seater luxury SUV named GLS, on May 18, 2016. The GLS model is said to be the facelift version of the GL- class. As of now, the GLS carries the series of Mercedes models in the current lineup, keeping the name inclined with the sedans as well.

As far as the exterior design is concerned, no much changes will be seen except the new set of headlights, while the front grille and the bumpers go revised. The interiors offers an array of accessories such as a free-standing infotainment system with a touchpad controller, a new three-spoke steering, and additional comfort features. It might also get a six-mode Dynamic Select drive mode selector with an additional Off-road Plus mode. This allows the SUV to get a depth of 600mm and make it comfortable on uneven terrains.

Mechanically, the GLS is expected to be powered by the familiar 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, but it could be paired to a new 9-speed automatic gearbox. Therefore, replacing the old seven-speed automatic gearbox.

The GLS will be positioned in between the top notch SUV in the Mercedes lineup. Post launch, the SUV will be seen competing against rivals like the Range Rover and the new Audi Q7.
