Mercedes Pulls Wraps off AMG GT and AMG GT C Roadster

Nothing much is required to be said when the topic under consideration is Mercedes. Whether it’s the top-notch design or the bizarre powertrain, the German carmaker has left behind every other automaker in the segment and has been the heir to the throne since its inception. The brand’s rich brochure now includes the convertible version of the Mercedes AMG GT and GT C Roadster, the veils from which have been officially pulled off by the manufacturer.

The basic 469HP variant and the top-of-the-class 547HP GT C model are going to make a big debut at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show in October. Earlier, there were rumors saying that the AMG GT C Roadster is a replica of the maniac AMG GT R in the technological aspect. Fortunately, those were true, besides, it also offers 46Hp more power over the AMG GT S Coupe.

On a specific note, the new AMG GT C borrows a lot of clever tech from GT R’s rear axle steering, electronically controlled locking differential, ride control sport suspension and a wider rear track. As far as the performance is concerned, torque is marked at a peak 680NM in just 1900 RPM. With achieving a top speed up to 316km/h electronically, Mercedes claims the car hit 62mph in just 3.7 seconds from scratch. The base variant bangs for the 0-62mph in four seconds and the acceleration won’t be stopped until it hits 187 mark.

A twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine will impart power to both the models, which is the basis for the entire AMG range. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic will perform the transmission duties.

Both the cabriolets open and close the fabric floor in just eleven seconds up to 32mph speeds. Impressively, the coupe will be offered in magnificent color choices for the exterior and the interior. The soft top will get black, red and beige, while the exterior and the cabin will be having eleven and ten paint schemes, respectively. To keep the weight balanced, the structure of the fabric top is arranged in a combination of three layers of magnesium, steel, and aluminum.
