MNGL Brings ARAI Approved CNG Kits for Scooters at Rs 16,500

Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has taken a step ahead to control the increasing pollution problem caused by the vehicles. It has propelled compressed natural gas (CNG) kits for scooters, after getting approval from the regional transport office and the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI),at the cost of Rs 16,500.

Five CNG Kits retrofitted Honda Activa scooters were flagged off from the BPCL petrol pump, situated opposite to the RTO in Pune, on Wednesday. As per a case-study, it can lessen up hydrocarbon discharges more or less 75 percent and carbon monoxide emissions by 20 per cent. Moreover, it facilitates to fuel up two kg of CNG and can run a substantial range of 60 km in one kg.

Undoubtedly, this is a right step in this direction, however, it would not be easy to implement it on a large scale. To attain this the ruling authority will have to get a big infrastructure push. In metro cities, the CNG refueling stations’ condition are really critical as they serve a real bulk of taxis, three-wheelers and passenger vehicles. And apart from this, the addition of two-wheelers in this course will make the equation indeed complicated to handle. Currently, as the reports say, MNGL has only 34 CNG fuel pumps in Pune and this plan will require a major upgrade to add more stations in the coming months.
