Next generation Honda CR-V to Offer 7 Seat Configuration

The next generation Honda CR-V is reportedly going to get larger in size. It will be sold as a premium vehicle and will offer a maximum capacity of occupying seven adults at a time. This enlarged size is intended to attract the customers of premium SUV models like Land Rover Discovery Sport and Volvo XC60. Earlier, the introduction of Hyundai Santa Fe in the U.K. was found to be successful in attracting prospective buyers of Audi Q5 and BMWX3.

As per the reports, this next generation model will be borrowing certain styling elements and components from Honda's newly launched compact crossover, HR-V. These include features like an infotainment system with touchscreen facility, keyless ignition function and an all new dashboard.

The powertrain equipped in the upcoming CR-V model could also be borrowed from the compact HR-V. This would mean that this latest version of SUV will be available with both petrol and diesel engine variants. The diesel variant will be carrying a 1.6 litre unit, which can generate an out put of 118 Bhp. On the other hand, the petrol engine will employ a 1.5 litre unit, delivering a power of 128 Bhp.

For transmission, the engine will be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. However, a CVT will also be offered for the petrol variants. The power will be transmitted to all the four wheels. This AWD setup will be reportedly available across the lineup.
