In the year 2013, Range Rover introduced the new updated LR2 that was having latest technology with turbocharged four-cylinder engine, fantastic interiors, and the automaker's Terrain Response off-roading system. With all the updates and changes, this LR2 has been on roads since the year 2007.

The breaking news is that Range Rover is planning to reveal the new version but that car will not be known as LR2. It won't be called as Freelander. But it can be assumed that this new LR2 would be expectedly known as 'Discovery Sport'.

It has been discussing that the new Range Rover will be named 'Discovery'. This segment is made for family and leisure purpose. Range Rover is famous for up market vehicles and its Defender is for hardcore utility cars. But in Geneva Motor Show 2014, this car has finalized its name 'Discovery'.

Not much information is leaked about this new car, but its first model will belong to the Discovery family and will be the LR2 uplift. Most expectedly, this vehicle will be called as Discovery Sport and approximately it will be launched in the early of next year.

The Discovery will have the sharing platform of Evoque. In terms of design, this new car will be based on Ford's old EUCD design with some changes. Most of its LR-MS features are unique. The body is build up with steel as well as aluminum at some places. This Discovery Sport will be bigger than the old Evoque but in terms of styles, it will be similar to the Evoque. This variant will accommodate seven seats.

Talking about engine, its base version will be powered with 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that is similar to engine in Jaguar cars. A super charged engine of 3.0-litre V-6 has been added to the Range Rover and its Sport models. It will be equipped with nine-speed automatic transmission.
