Sixth-Gen Hyundai Elantra Teased Online, India Launch on August 23

Hyundai India has released a teaser video and image of its about to be launched, the all new 2016 Elantra on its official web page. This will be the sixth-generation Hyundai Elantra and has been scheduled for 23rd of this month to launch in India.

The Hyundai dealerships across the country have started accepting the pre-bookings for this upcoming compact sedan with the token amount of INR 25,000. This 2016 Hyundai Elantra is expected to be priced between INR 15.0 Lakh and INR 20.0 Lakh. When launched, this next generation car will rival against the best selling cars of the segments Chevrolet Cruze, Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla Altis.

Next Generation Hyundai Elantra

The teaser video does not reveal much about the car, neither the image, except ‘Coming Soon’. All the specs of 2016 Elantra are kept under the cover. But from the teaser image, the only illuminated part, the D-shaped taillamps are eye-catching for sure.
On the dimension front, this time car will be 20 mm longer, 25 mm wider and 20 mm lower over the current selling model, with the same wheelbase of 2700 mm. Overall the car measures 4570 mm in length, 1800 mm in width and 1450 in height.

Under the hood, the sixth generation Hyundai Elantra is expected to carry a brand new 2.0-litre MPI naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder petrol engine that is tuned to produce a maximum power of 149 PS at 6200 rpm, while the peak torque of 183 Nm comes out at 4500 rpm. Besides the Petrol configuration, 2016 Elantra is also expected to offer with diesel engine option, powered by a 1.6-litre VGT four cylinder motor which is capable of generating 136 Bhp of maximum power along with the 306 Nm of peak torque. In terms of transmission, both engines are expected to be offered with choices of 6-Speed manual, 6-Speed automatic unit and 7-Speed dual-clutch automatic.

On the inside, a black cabin theme, three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, 7- or 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and HVAC vents for rear passengers are expected to be offered with the new 2016 Elantra.

However, there are no official words on the technologies, variants and safety features, but to give a tough competition to its rivals, the sixth generation Elantra will be fully loaded with all the latest technology-wise features along with the sufficient safety guards for its occupants.

Several dealerships are even offering some attractive discounts in order to lure the customers and finish the remaining stock before the arrival of next generation.
