Skoda Kodiaq Scout SUV Unveiled ahead of 2017 Geneva Debut

After taking the wraps off from the first ever full-sized SUV, the Kodiaq, now the Czech auto major Skoda has unveiled a new variant of the same. Christened as ‘Kodiaq Scout’, it comes with more rugged features including both aesthetic and mechanical to meet the off-road qualities. Available in both five and seven-seater configuration likewise the regular one, this new variant will be displayed at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, held in March 2017.

Apart from the added silver-colored undercarriage protection at both front and rear, the new Scout can be visually distinguished by its black accented front grille, tinted rear windows and rear side windows. Besides, the roof rails along with mirror caps and the side window trims are also giving a different look the car that treated in a silver paint job. Moreover, the side profile of the car has also come with a set of 19-inch alloy wheels that is exclusive to it.  Also, there is a small Scout badge at the front wing and the glove compartment. 

Just like the regular seven-seater SUV, the Skoda sportier variant will reportedly get the same powertrain including two petrol engines- the 148Bhp 1.4 TSI and the 178Bhp 2.0 TSI and two diesel - the 148Bhp 2.0 TDI and 187Bhp 2.0 TDI. All-wheel drive technology comes as standard as does the terrain response package. Furthermore, the SUV also has driving Mode Select namely Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, and Snow enabling it to manage engine, power steering, and transmission.

Some of the other noticeable features are a DAB radio, an eight-speaker stereo, air conditioning, LED ambient lighting in ten colours,  a multifunction steering wheel, a Swing infotainment touchscreen, and Alcantara seats. For safety, it has been offered park Assist camera, blind spot detection, rear traffic alert, crew protect assist, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, and automatic emergency braking as the standard attachment.

Skoda Kodiaq is likely to be launched in India by the next year, and it will be slotted above the Superb. On the competition side, it will take on the likes of Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Fortuner, etc. Whereas the Scout variant can also be believed here in the country later in 2018.
