Skoda Octavia Black Edition Unveiled Prior to Launch in Next Week

The Czech auto major Skoda has unveiled a teaser of limited Black edition Octavia ahead of its scheduled launch in the following week. It is nothing but just a swansong to the ongoing model, which is soon going to have a mid-life refresh, allegedly in mid-2017. Available only on top-spec Style Plus trim, the new Black edition has reportedly got a few cosmetic tweaks including wing mirror housings, front grille and a rear spoiler.

The teaser showed here hinting the front grille of the new Octavia Black Edition model flanked by LED headlamp clusters and LED daytime running lights. Limited to the only 100 units, the new edition is expected to be priced between INR 15,000 to 20,000 more than run-of-the top-end variants. Currently, the regular Style Plus variant costs INR 21.5 lakh for the petrol and INR 23.1 lakh for the diesel (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

As the name suggest, the Black Edition Skoda Octavia will come up with black alloy wheels, boot lid spoiler in black, black roof, and black ORVMs. The interior, however, will remain same as of the Style Plus Trim. As far as the powertrain is concerned, this will continue to be powered by the current engine options that are available in both petrol and diesel unit.

The specification of the petrol engine comprises a 1.4-litre TSI trim, 1.8-litre TSI, while the diesel model has a 2.0-litre engine. In terms of transmission, the former is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, the latter paired to a six-speed dual clutch manual or automatic gearbox.

Recently, the company had also unveiled the most powerful version of the Octavia ever, the vRS 245 which will make its public debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
