Skoda Recalls 539 Units of Octavia in India

Skoda Auto India has announced a fresh recall of its sedan car, Octavia in the Indian market over the faulty child safety locks on the rear doors.

“In order to keep our promise of safety, we make the best efforts to achieve our objectives by conducting customer campaigns,” Skoda India said in the official statement.

This recall affects 539 units of Skoda Octavia sedan that was built between November 2015 and April 2016. Skoda India stated that the affected owners will be informed by the dealers of the company. Further, the Czech auto major claims that the assessment of the child safety lock will be done only in 12 minutes. Also, the company will replace the faulty part completely, if found necessary. The whole process will be completed in 45 minutes and will be done at free of cost to the customers.

Considering this month’s report, the Czech carmaker is seriously targeting customer satisfaction in the country, as the Skoda has announced INR 100 Crore investment for the whole service and sales upgrade programme in India.

Meantime, Skoda is planning to introduce a performance oriented version of the Octavia in the country, named Octavia vRS. Powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine which is capable of producing 217 bhp of maximum power at 4,500-6,200 rpm and peak torque of 350 Nm comes out at 1,500-4,400 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-Speed DSG gearbox with Tiptronic manual gear selecting. It is being expected that the performance version will be priced at around INR 30.0 Lakh.
