Skoda's Sales Report for First Half of this Year

Since people have started talking more on cheating emission scandal of Skoda and its other sister companies, who could ever think that the company would achieve the favorable sales records, but it happened. Whatever reason lies behind this, but, it is certainly a great news for the company after going through all the tough phases. Though, the Volkswagen Group has no reason to celebrate as they are still so far from their destination, which was somehow left behind due to high emission issue.

Pursuing the details, the Czech automobile manufacturer’s sales have been increased by 4.6% to 569,400 vehicles during the period of Jan to June this year, while they have only witnessed 544,300 units for the same period last fiscal. The company’s strong sales came up from its core markets such as China, Russia and Europe.

In western Europe, Skoda sold 242,500 units in the first half of the year that is rise of 7.5%, while in Germany only 86,500 vehicle were retailed out but, still there’s an increase of 6.9%. Besides, the company has also recorded great numbers from the following countries - Netherlands (1600 units, rise of 37.3%), Great Britain ( 8500 units, increase of 17.8%), France (2600 units, up 21.2%), Italy (2000 units, rise of 27.2%) and Spain where the company sold 2400 vehicles with an increase of 31%.

“ŠKODA did very well in the first half of the year, and the company’s stable growth continues,” said ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and Marketing Werner Eichhorn. “The sales record is the result of an attractive model range and our team’s great performance. The strong sales figures in the first six months give us confidence for the second half of the year.”

Talking about the strongest player of the company, Skoda has surpassed the sales in China as well accounting for 145,800 sales in the same period. Moreover, with the sales over 219,500 units, the Octavia has become the best selling model of the company. Besides, Fabia and Rapid were also close with 104,700 and 102,600 units respectively. Furthermore, the Superb, the Yetis and the Citigos have also performed well in the market by garnering 70,100, 52,400 and 20,000 units during the first half of 2016.
