Yamaha YZF R1: Meet the Iconic Designers of Historic Motorcycle (Video)

It's been 18 years, when we saw this iconic state-of-the-art sports motorcycle for the first time. The Japanese has revealed the Yamaha YZF-R1 back in the year, 1998 and it has completely changed the way we see the sports racing championships. Being the firm's flagship model, the Yamaha YZF-R1 is a perfect machine comprises of magnificent performance and opulent style. Yamaha is celebrating the 17 successful years of the YZF-R1 project and brought all the iconic designers together in this recently released video. The video was being shot at the Eastern Creek Race Circuit, located in Sydney, Australia; while the 2015 YZF-R1 and R1M was being tested.

Previewing the five generations of the Yamaha YZF-R1, the company has introduced the associated project leaders who are responsible for the development of this beast. The Yamaha says, "As a part of the test, former project leaders Kunihiko Miwa (1998), Yoshikazu Koike (2002-2004), Mokoto Shimomoto (2007), Toyoshi Nishida (2009) and the latest YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M models project Leader Hideki Fujiwara (2015) donned their racing suits and took a ride aboard the models they developed."

In this released video, the firm has showcased what the designers actually think about their designed version. Apart from the Yamaha YZF-R1 and their designers, this video reveals much more than that, such as the feeling of the one who has designed this bike and what they actually thought while designing their version.

2015 Yamaha YZF-R1M

Technically, the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 is powered by an in-line 4-cylinder motor configuration carrying an engine displacement of 998cc. The liquid-cooled engine is tuned by these Japanese boffins to fetch out a total power of 196 BHP @ 13,500 RPM and achieves a peak torque of 112.4 Nm @ 11,500 RPM. The firm has installed newly fabricated crossplane crankshaft and Ram air effect to achieve this attractive power and torque figures. While, the track-based Yamaha YZF-R1M shares the similar power plant, but, it is little bit enhanced over the current the current version. The YZF-R1M is equipped with Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS), Communication Control Unit (CCU) and a little bit of carbon fiber bodywork.
