Asus Unveils Two New Laptops Running DOS OS in India

Asus, the Taiwanese consumer electronics giant, has recently launched two laptops in India, the A540 and the R558 both of which come with the new USB Type-C port and are priced at Rs. 20,990 and Rs. 43,990 respectively. They are equipped with Sound Master and Bang & Olufsen ICE power audio technology.

Both the laptops runs DOS OS and sports a VGA webcam, a 1TB 5400RPM HDD and SD card reader support.

Talking about the Tech-spec of the ASUS R558, it measures in at 382x256x25.5mm, weighs 2.1 kg and comes with a 15.6-inch full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) anti-glare display. Asus R558 is an upgraded version of its R88UF premium notebook.

The laptop additionally is powered by a 2.3GHz Intel Core i5-6200U (2 cores, 4 threads, 2.8GHz Turbo frequency, 3MB SmartCache ) coupled with 4GB of DDR4 RAM which is expandable up to to 8GB, Intel HD Graphics 520, and 2GB of DDR3 Nvidia GeForce 930MX (N16S-GMR). The laptop comes with a 2-cell Li-ion battery pack.

Asus R558 laptop

In terms of connectivity, the laptop includes a headphone and microphone combo jack, Ethernet port, VGA port, a HDMI 1.4 port, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and a DVD-RW drive. The Asus R558 is available in just Black and Brown color variants.

On the other hand, the Asus A540 measures in at 381x252x27.2, and  carries a weight of 2 kg with battery and features a 15.6-inch display with a much lower resolution of 1366x768 pixels. Under the hood, the laptop gets powered by a 1.7GHz Intel Core i3-4005U (2 cores, 4 threads, 3MB SmartCache) processor with Intel HD Graphics 4400 coupled with 4GB of DDR3 RAM which is upgradable up to 8GB and packs a 3-cell Li-ion battery pack.

Asus R540 laptop

The laptop offers nearly the same connectivity options as its sibling as it too includes a headphone and microphone combo jack, Ethernet port, VGA port, a HDMI 1.4 port, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and a DVD-RW drive and is available in Black and Silver colour variants.

One must recall that the company recently unveiled a number of other laptops too that includes names of  the ZenBook 3, Transformer 3 Pro, and Transformer 3 - at its Zenvolution Event in May this year. They all come preloaded with Windows 10 OS unlike the above mentioned laptops. Not just laptops the company also unveiled ZenFone 3 ZenFone 3 Deluxe, and ZenFone 3 Ultra smartphone series varying in different sizes and specifications at the same event.
