Google serves two month Internet literacy movement for women in UP

Google has announced to inaugurate an Internet literacy program targeting five lacs women in the state UP. This two month education program will make women and girls more digitally interacting. Along way the movement, Google has also established a "Helping Women Get Online" website www.hwgo.com that will also assist women for basic knowledge of Internet and Computer operations in daily life.

While talking to PTI, Sandeep Menon, Google marketing director said, "The two-month Helping Women Get Online campaign (HWGO) in Uttar Pradesh aims to create awareness about the benefits of Internet for women and assist them to get online through basic knowledge on how to use the Internet."

"We strongly believe that Internet can benefit and transform the lives of women in Uttar Pradesh and India. With the launch of HWGO we aim to help over five lacs women and girls across Uttar Pradesh get digitally literate", he said.

This movement was launched in November last year aiming of empowering women in terms of technology. In the coming two months, Google will target 20 cities of the State and prolongs women towards Internet usage with the help of road shows in residential areas and Internet training modules for girl students in educational institutes, he said.
