Reliance Jio Reached 100 Million Users: Announces Jio Prime Subscription At Rs. 10 A Day For Unlimited Data

Mukesh Ambani, the owner of Reliance Corporation, has announced that the newly launched Reliance Jio now has over 100 million active users. The company has reached this remarkable target in just 170 days of the service launch. Ambani credited this achievement to Jio’s customers, employees, and other partners and said, "this record is an achievement of India and Indians". Ambani further said that before the arrival of Reliance Jio, India was placed at 150th in broadband usage and after the launch of the Jio network, India became the number one country in the world for mobile data usage. According to him, the Jio users consumed 100 crore GB of data a month, which is 50 percent more than what China consumed and was approximately equal to the amount consumed by the US.

The plan comes into effect on April 1, 2017, the day the existing Jio Happy New Year Offer expires. Those who do not opt for the Jio Prime subscription plan will be ported to the prepaid or postpaid Reliance Jio tariff plans, which the company had announced in September 2016 while launching its services. Ambani stressed that despite the free data plans not being valid starting April 1, all voice calls on the network will remain free indefinitely - with no roaming charges.

Additionally, Ambani said that Jio will continually strive to be the most value-for-money telecom operator in the country and will always provide 20 percent more data than any other telecom company in India.
