YouTube will be served on DTH Services

Google has future plans to increase the use of YouTube in India. According to Google's global director (platform partnerships) Francisco Warela, company is planning with DTH service providers to telecast their services on television screens. He added that India is one of the fastest growing markets to serve video services. The plans they had proposed here with the DTH companies will strengthen the Youtube's usage.

YouTube is a major part of Google in terms of revenue which had crossed 50 billion dollars in 2012. There is an average of 6 billion hours of video viewed every month and 100 hours of video uploaded every minute on YouTube.

Further, Warela added that they are doing all this to serve better services on screens to the costumers. However, Warela didn't disclose the names of the DTH service providers with whom they are talking. He said that they are planning to tie up as early as possible.

India receives more than 5.5 crore unique monthly users which is more than year 2011 by 1.5 crores. It is estimated that it will be go up in coming time because the mobile and internet circle is getting enlarged continuously.

As per TRAI (telecom regularity authority of India), by the end of last year, there are 5.4 crore people who were using DTH services. The major DTH service providers include Dish TV, Tata Sky, AirTel Digital TV, Videocon D2H, Reliance Digital and Sun Direct. YouTube had already tied up with Samsung and Sony like television manufacturers for video sharing.

A big amount of internet surfers in India use it on Mobile devices. The biggest drawback in India for such internet services is the connection speed. 90% people in India use 2G data connection while rests 10% are using 3G. Company plans to grab these 2G users with their DTH YouTube service.
