What 2018 Apple iPhone XS, XS Max and XR Has To Offer?

Apple, Cupertino Tech giant has finally added three new smartphones, dubbed as iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone XR, in its iPhone 2018 lineup. All three smartphones have been showcased at Apple's launch event on September 12 conducted at Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, California, (United States).

All of the newly launched Apple iPhones have a similar design but their features and prices are different. The iPhone XS Max has a larger display rather than iPhone XS. The XS Max features a 6.5-inch OLED display whereas the XS comes with 5.8-inch OLED display.

It is the first time that the Apple has offered dual- sim cards with support of e-sim in the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR in the history of Apple iPhones. Alongside new Apple iPhones, the company has also launched Apple Watch Series 4.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple reported that iPhone’s is the number 1 smartphone across the globe and an outstanding 98 percent customer satisfaction rate. While unveiling the iPhone XS and XS Max series, Cook stated, “the most advanced iPhone we have ever created”.

Apple iPhone XS comes at a starting price of $999 of (approximately Rs 99,900) and goes up to $1,349 (approximately Rs 1,34,900). While iPhone XS Max comes with a starting price of Rs. $1,099 (approximately Rs 1,09,900). 

Lastly, iPhone XR is a cheaper variant among two smartphones which has been priced at $749 approximately Rs 76,900 for low 64GB storage and goes up to $899 approximately (Rs 81,900).

The users can pre-book the iPhone XS and XS Max from 14th September and the deliveries will start from 21st September. In India, it will be available for purchase from 28th September. The buyers can choose among Space Grey, Silver and Gold color options in iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. 

On another hand, iPhone XR pre-orders will start from 19th October, whereas its deliveries will commence from 26th October across 50 countries and territories, including India. The company has offered Black, Blue, Project Red, Coral, White, and Yellow color variants of iPhone XR.

iPhone XS and XS Max Features

Both iPhone XS and XS Max come with an OLED display panel which helps to save battery and more saturating. The iPhone XS features a 5.8-inch OLED panel which has Super Retina and the screen resolution of 1125x2234 pixels. It comes with a similar notch that we have previously seen on iPhone X.

The iPhone XS Max comes with a larger 6.5-inch OLED Super Retina panel which offers the screen resolution of 1242x2688 pixel resolution and also has similar display notch.

Apple 2018 iPhone Series run on iOS 12 out-of-the-box. Additionally, at event company reported that it would soon ship its two billionth iOS device.

iPhones are powered by the company owned advanced A12 Bionic processor which the company claims it is the first smartphone comes with a 7nm processor.

A latest 6-core A12 Bionic chip has 2 performance cores which deliver up to 15 percent faster and 40 percent lower power consumption, and 4 efficiency cores with up to 50 percent lower power consumption. Apple has not revealed the mAh battery details of iPhone XS and XS Max at the formal event but the company claims that it can deliver up to 30 and 90 minutes more battery life respectively than the Apple iPhone X.

Both iPhone XS and XS Max are equipped with 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB internal storage configuration. Apple 2018 iPhones are made up of a surgical-grade stainless steel body and covered with glass- coating on both sides similar to iPhone X.

These are the first Apple iPhones that rated with IP68 which protects the device from water and dust particles whereas the iPhone X was rated with IP67. iPhone XS and XS Max comes with a glass panel and support wireless charging.

Camera Sensors

For photography, both iPhone XS and XS Max have dual cameras on the rear panel which includes dual 12-megapixel camera offering 1.8 wide-angle lenses, f2.4 telephoto lens,10x digital zoom, 2x optical zoom, five portrait lighting effects and TrueTone quad-LED flash.

For the selfie snapper iPhone XS and XS Max come with a 7-megapixel RGB camera sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 which is to touted to be faster than iPhone X.

Apple iPhone XR Specifications

Apple iPhone XR boasts a 6.1-inch LCD screen display with screen resolution of 1,792x828 pixels and 326ppi (Retina display). It is made up of aluminum body and having a glass panel on the rear side.

The company claims that iPhone XR can be rated to deliver up to 1.5 hours more battery life than the iPhone 8 Plus. For security purpose, it gets an IP67 rating which protects the smartphone from the water.

iPhone XR gets a haptic touch instead of 3D Touch. It runs on the company owned iOS 12- out-of-the-box. It is powered by Apple A12 Bionic chip which can deliver up to 30 percent faster app launch time. A12 Bionic chip has a six-core CPU and a four-core GPU alongside a new dedicated Neural Engine.

Apple iPhone XR is coupled with 64GB, 128GB, 256GB internal storage. However, the RAM details are not available at the moment, as the company has not disclosed at Apple launch event.

Apple iPhone XR comes with a single 12MP camera on the rear panel featuring three portrait lighting effects, 5X digital zoom, an aperture of f1.8. Up front, it gets a similar 7MP selfie snapper with an aperture of f/2.2. It comes with a Smart HDR feature, Portrait Mode, Bokeh effect.
