hTC One M8s: Low-Cost Variant of 2014 Flagship with Spicy Specs

We were just swallowing the recent launch of hTC One M9 and the tech gargantuan has dropped one more bombshell by announcing a low-cost variant of year old flagship One M8. Yes, a new handset One M8s has been announced to knock your socks off.

We thought that the Taiwanese juggernaut has thrown in the towel for its yesteryear smartphone, but they didn’t. They have brought the low-range version with almost identical specs with some changes. Refurbishing the camera and chipset, hTC has engineered a new device and named its One M8s.

Processor has also been downgraded with Qualcomm’s 64-bit octacore Snapdragon 615 SoC to make it an affordable device. The 2014 flagship has high-end Snapdragon 801 SoC. However, camera has been modified with 13MP duo sensor. Front has the same 5MP sensor for selfie lovers.

Build and all other specs have remained same for this device. The same 5-inch 1080p display and the same metal body can be seen in this new device. Battery has made a jump with 2840mAh capacity. Other features include 16GB built-in storage with option of microSD card slot for upto 128GB data storage. It is slightly thick than One M8 with 9.55mm thickness which makes no major difference.

hTC One M8s runs on Android Lollipop OS which is complimented with HTC's Sense 6.0 UI to offer amazing user experience. It is said that the SIM free model will go on sale at £379.99 for UK while the original One M8s will cost £549.99. Currently, it will be selling in Europe only; later will reach in other countries. Well, it’s hard to say that whether it is capable in affecting the sale of hTC One M9 or not.
