Lumia 540 Dual SIM: New Rival in Budget Smartphone Series from Microsoft

The Redmond based tech giant: Microsoft has brought a brand-new Windows Phone 8.1-based handset, called Lumia 540 Dual SIM at just $149 (Roughly Rs. 9, 303), which looks like a boon for budget-conscious folks that are keen for Windows platform and want to purchase a decent smartphone at affordable cost.

Talking about gadget, it bears a 5-inch IPS LCD Capacitive Multipoint-Touch display that produces a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720p and pixel density of 294ppi. Based on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim, mobile phone comes with built-in Microsoft services such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype and OneNote and this OS will be upgradable to Windows 10 when it will be available.

On imaging front, phone is fitted with a 5-megapixel front-facing wide-angle camera that works with pre-loaded Lumia Selfie app to take personal pictures and the captured images can be shared with friends, says corporation. The handheld also houses an 8-megapixel auto focus shooter with LED flash on its rear panel.

In terms of memory, this new scion of Lumia family is arrayed with 1GB RAM alongside 8GB of inbuilt storage (expandable upto 128GB via a microSD card) just like Microsoft Lumia 430 Dual SIM. The consumers will also get additional 15GB of free OneDrive cloud storage and a further 15GB after activating the "auto-upload" photo feature within the camera settings.

Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM is power packed with 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and clubbed with ambient light, accelerometer and proximity sensors. Including location technologies: A-GLONASS, A-GPS and Wi-Fi network positioning, device offers Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity options.

Rest of the specs include, 2200mAh battery that confers 26.2 hours and 14.8 hours of talk time on 2G and 3G networks respectively. Moreover, it will be procurable in cyan, orange, white and matte black color models and will initially roll out in IMEA and APAC regions in May.
