Microsoft to Enter into Partnership with Airtel Double Data Package

On 30th November 2015, Microsoft had launched the Lumia 950 and 950 XL models in India, which were made available for sale in the country from December 11. Recently, the company has announced its plan to enter into partnership with Airtel data network. Under this venture, the users of these handsets will be able to avail free double data package.

Mr Ajey Mehta, country head of mobile devices, Microsoft India, was quoted as saying, “Microsoft India is keen to partner with Bharti Airtel for a 4G data-bundling pact, wherein their customers may be able to double their data packs for free on purchasing our Windows 10 Lumia 4G devices such as the 950, 950 XL and the soon-to-be-launched Lumia 550.”

Lumia 950 and 950 XL

Lumia 950 and 950 XL are priced at INR 43,699 and INR 49,399 respectively. These are the first Lumia handsets in the lineup to be pre-installed with Windows 10 in the Indian market. The former carries a 5.2 inch display along, while the latter comes with a 5.7 inch screen. Both are fitted with a 20MP front facing camera and a 5MP rear camera.

The upcoming Lumia 550 is expected to enter the market around this Christmas at the starting price of INR 10,000. If reports are to be believed, Microsoft aims at dealing with other carriers as well so as to provide attractive free data offers to the customers. However, the discussions are still in progress between Airtel and Microsoft regrading this venture.
