Nokia X Series Shutdown, 18,000 Employees will Suffer Job Cut

The king in mobile manufacturing, Nokia has shocked people by discontinuing its recently coming X series. Yes, Microsoft which acquired Nokia has decided to discontinue its Nokia X series smartphone. Stephen Elop, Chief Microsoft devices has made announcement about shifting Nokia X android project to Windows Phone system. Company thought that these series smartphones will provide the platform to them in low-cost smartphones but it has not received big success.

Nokia X series smartphones have taken some features from Android and some from Windows Phone to provide a complete new package. But, it has turned into a failure of Nokia. However, no sales report is known for the same. Microsoft will shift the Nokia X series smartphone as soon as possible but support and sales of existing devices won’t affect.

Now, only one confusion has occurred in everyone’s mind that what about Nokia X2 which was announced a month earlier. It could go on sale as it is a preannounced smartphone in the series or it could face the blowout. By taking this decision, Microsoft has planned to stand in market with Windows only, not any other platform support. Lumia series will take the responsibility of Nokia X series products.

On the other side, Microsoft has also decided to downsize the employee strength by dismissing around 18,000 of employees for layoff. In this list, around 12,500 employees of Nokia Devices and Services will suffer from this job cut including IT professionals and factory workers. Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella announced and sent emails to employees regarding the job cut.
