OnePlus First 5G Enabled Prototype Showcased At MWC 2019

A few months back OnePlus had officially announced that it is working with Qualcomm to introduce the first 5G- enabled smartphone. Samsung, Huawei and LG have already showcased the prototype models of their 5G- ready smartphones. Recently, the prototype model of 5G- enabled smartphone has been showcased by OnePlus at the MWC 2019. Although, don’t be too curious about it as the company has only showcased a prototype and not the entire device at the MWC 2019.

OnePlus has taken the advantage by showcasing the prototype of 5G- enabled smartphone at MWC 2019 and is expected to release the 5G enabled device as soon as possible. The company has placed the device in a covered glass area that can't be visible. The display of the device can be seen which suggesting that the OnePlus is planning to eliminate the notch from the display which is quite similar to the rumoured images that were surfaced on the internet a few weeks ago.

OnePlus reportedly said that the 5G prototype would be powered by a latest Snapdragon 855 SoC which is made available in the current flagship smartphones. The prototype device is to be based on Snapdragon X50 5G modem for 5G connectivity purpose.

In the showcase, the OnePlus displayed a flight simulator game running directly from the cloud without any lag showing that the speeds are incredible.

OnePlus has revealed some of the enticing features in the prototype device of the 5G handset like a taller display similar to the 21:9 display that we have previously seen on Xperia 1 and Xperia 10. OnePlus might eliminates the notch in its 5G- enabled smartphone by offering broader forehead and chins exactly to the Meizu 16th. OnePlus might opt a sliding pattern in a bid to eliminate the display notch.

As of now, OnePlus has not revealed a tentative launch date for its first 5G- enabled smartphone. A few months back, OnePlus promised to provide a 5G network connectivity in its flagship smartphone in the coming months.

It is clarified that the upcoming flagship smartphone is to be based on Qualcomm's X50 5G modem rather than OnePlus owned 5G chipset that the company had disclosed at Snapdragon summit in Hawaii in the previous year December.
