3D Printer is no more imposing in tech world as several are already performing their best in market. What’s the big news to grab the attention of all is a compact one which will not only print 3D objects, but will also be comprised with 3D scanning capability. Yes, a single device for both 3D scanning and printing.
A new comer has made it possible by introducing a new 3D Printer cum 3D Scanner. HP began working for introducing such functionality on its HP Sprout PC. Meanwhile, a novice from Nanyang Technological University Singapore has developed it and named it the Blacksmith Genesis. The device was presented at American Association Advancement of Science in San Jose, California.
The maker has done great engineering work by making it compact in size. It removes the complexity of shifting or moving the printer cum scanner from one place to another. It is worth for home and office use. Well, you can scan any object in 3-dimension, and then can edit the scanned object which will be in digitized format. The edited digitized model can later be printed in the same 3-dimension format.
All sound pretty and it is in real as the Blacksmith Group has not added the most-often used platform for doing such printing. Denying for using the inflexible Cartesian platform for 3D printing, company has used Rotary platform which is quite mechanical in functions. It rotates upto 360 degree to scan physical objects and the whole scanning takes only six minutes with the help of built-in 5MP camera with CMOS sensor.
3D printing is also a great factor that doubles your experience with capability of printing objects at upto 6,650 cubic cm which has not been done yet by any 3D printer available in market. The Genesis has a 2-inch LCD display to print already scanned physical object. Using any USB or SD card, you can take the 3D print-out of digitized model. 50 micrometres resolution will enhance the quality of 3D-prited object.
Remote live monitoring is one of the unique features of BlackSmith Genesis which gives you the access of monitoring the printing process direct from your smartphone through internet as it comes with Wi-Fi connectivity. You can also start and stop the printing anytime from anywhere with a simple click on your smartphone. You can also find errors during the same, thanks to automatic error detection feature of this system.
The device is though pricier with $2,200 (Approx Rs. 1, 36,000) and will reach to US in March. However, there is no information available for its availability in other markets.
