Google Maps Now Also Available on Offline Mode Via SD Card

Google on this Tuesday introduced an additional feature to its Google Maps application. The Android smartphone users of the country will now be able to store their desired maps in SD card so as to use them in offline mode as per their requirement and use. The new feature will be accessible only by connecting with the Wi-Fi.

The techno giant firm has given an emailed statement addressing the importance of this offline mode feature. According to the company the feature will be proved very useful while traveling in an area having no network or while traveling without having a net connection in your device. The company has not mentioned any details about launching the feature for iOS users but has confirmed the availability of the particular feature for Android smartphone users.

Moving back to the feature- the users can now save their maps on the SD card which will assist them while being offline and will keep their inbuilt storage free also. To use the feature, one must navigate to Menu > Offline areas > Settings > Storage preferences > Device and then simply choose SD card.

For Wi-Fi mode only option, the application will use the downloaded map while you are completely offline. There are certain steps which will simply assist you to use the feature, for that you must go to Menu > Settings and select Wi-Fi only.

The company made some major updates in the Android application last month, by revamping the interface for a clear look. After that the iOS application of the firm got some updates to navigate to multiple destinations, which allows users to pit-stops mid-route with the application dividing them into point A, Point B and so on.
