How to use this Feature for editing Office Docs?

  • First off, you need to download the ‘Office Edit extension’ for Chrome, and then install it on your system’s browser.
  • After installing it, any office docs you have received in attachments can easily be edited by clicking on the ‘edit’ icon, showing at the bottom right side of the attachment.
  • After clicking on the edit, Gmail will save that file into Drive for editing without caring about the format of file.
  • If, your browser doesn’t have ‘Office Edit extension’, then Gmail will automatically change the format of attached file with the relevant Office format, and then open it in Google Drive for editing.

So, you can edit the document of around 15 formats including .pptx, .ppt, .docx, .xlsx and many more. Google has expanded the number of Office file types to make editing easier.
