HTC Rumored to Be Working on Two Nexus Devices

The tech world is buzzing again with another leaked report that states that Taiwanese manufacturer HTC is supposedly working on two Nexus devices codenamed as M1 and S1 and would likely launch both of these Android gadgets this year itself. This holds importance since quite recently, Google the tech giant via Alphabet (it's parent company) had signed a MoU for a time period of three whole years that allowed HTC to manufacture Nexus devices.

Reliable tipster Evan Blass (better known as @evleaks) too confirmed the news of the next HTC-made Nexus devices via its Twitter account with its official tweet reading, "HTC is building a pair of Android N devices for Google internally dubbed M1 and S1 #nexus."

The possibility of names suggested by @evleaks seems fit with the monikers 'Marlin' and 'Sailfish' that have been making rounds for a long while and as per reports the moniker 'Marlin' was originally spotted in Gerrit, which is a Web-based code tool widely used by Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The report recalling the old times also stated that Google had used similar names in earlier times as well like Bullhead for Nexus 5X and Angler codename for Nexus 6P.

HTC upcoming Nexus devices codenamed as M1 and S1

The report as of now denies the possibility of usage of 'Sailfish' moniker since there is already one Operating System in use in the tech world, however since these codenames can not be marketed so that also redirects to the other side of the coin and from that aspect it might be possible that the HTC Nexus device may actually be codenamed as 'Sailfish' only.

Not just this, the rumored HTC Nexus device with 'Marlin' moniker did got spotted on the Geekbench browser benchmark listing and despite the fact that it showed handset name as 'Google Nexus 6P', the specs that got listed have some other story to tell. As per say, the device likely sports latest Android N OS that got leaked quite recently and has 'Marlin' motherboard. Additionally, it equips 4GB of RAM that is a little more than the 3GB as was seen on Nexus 6P.

HTC to likely add 3D Touch display feature

Based on preliminary leaks, HTC is said to add the 3D Touch like display feature in its rumoured Nexus smartphones. If true, the new Nexus smartphones will most likely be running Android N, which will be useless without the pressure-sensitive display implementation.
