Netflix Could be announced For India Launch Next Week At CES

The popular media streaming service, Netflix could launch in India as soon as next week. The company has announced it ilans to touch the feets of the market in Singapore, Honkong and two other Asian countries in early 2016. It has announced its arrival in India at Trade show Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2016), which is set to tak place in Las Vegas in upcoming week.

The US based company, for its India launch made its collaboration with an unnamed Indian telecom operator to heave the 4G networks. As per the reports, the Airtel is only the telecom operator with a ample 4G footprint in the country that is available to the public. Even the Reliance had announce its 4G services but currently for its employees only.

According to report, Netflix had over a 69 million of users till October 2015.It is not only offering content streaming in partnership with major TV networks and movie studios, it also produces a number of original shows and has exclusive rights to air some content. There are some original shows such as Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Marvel's Jessica Jones, and Daredevil. This service features both movies and TV shows to users at $8.99 (roughly RS.600) per month.

According to an older report from the Times of India, “US-based Netflix, has firmed up plans to enter India by 2016, according to people familiar with the matter. This has sent domestic DTH players into a tizzy with some of the major ones chalking out strategies to diversify beyond television. On the cards are iconic shows including Buniyaad, Nukkad and Malgudi Days on various mobile devices across iOS and Android.”

The delay in entering the Indian market was due to the earlier attributed to everything from licensing costs and internet infrastructure to the diversity of genres.
