NoiseTube: An App To Turn The Smartphones into Noise Sensors

Researchers at the Free University of Brussels in Belgium have developed an Application for smartphones, which is named as NoiseTube. Apparently, the App has been introduced to measure the noise of the surroundings. With the advancements in technology, this new feature has been added to mobile phones by keeping in mind the health issues due to noise pollution.

Discussing about this App, which only need the GPS and microphone to create the noise map. As per the developers , this newly publicized attribute for the handsets basically records an audio clip from the respective localities of user. After accumulating all the data, it uploads the information to a server over the web. Than, a more detailed collaborative noise map is provided to examine.

After turning on the application, it will display the decibel level in green or red in the proportion of noise intensity or magnitude. However, the new trait is rendering an ability to transform our smartphones in to a Noise sensor. At this place, it has been asserted that sound-level meter empowers the people to take control and monitor the amount of clamors around the atmosphere. Here, it can be used as a tool to keep safe our self from high levels of sound, which disturb our sleep at night.

According to the World Health Organisation(WHO), these clamor contaminations are stressful and unhealthy for mind and body. Also, the Noise Tube will be a boon for urban areas as well as for highly-polluted regions, where the exposure of noise lead to cardiovascular diseases, restlessness, sleep disturbance and anxiety.
