Pruning Some Devices from its Service, YouTube is Leading to Progress

We prune trees or plants to give them healthy and new growth. Like pruning trees, YouTube is twisting its app for select old devices. And, it’s all for making headway of this popular video channel’s app.

As per MacRumours report, YouTube has made an announcement to stop its app on select devices. According to the video channel, it is going to improve its Data API that will make its app on some devices dump. That’s all because the older devices which were manufactured in 2012 or earlier, will no longer be able to support this changed API.

Well, this new API will though stop functioning on few devices, but improves the features like RSS push notifications, commenting, captions, and flagging videos. Second-generation Apple TV and iOS 6 and older versions’ devices are also under this list which won’t be able to access the YouTube. Few other names in this list include Panasonic and Sony’s Blu-ray disc players, Google TV version 3 and 4, and few gaming console without Adobe Flash or HTML5 support.

If you have an older Apple TV, then we cannot help you. But, if you are a user of iOS devices running older than iOS 7, then there is one option for you. You can watch YouTube video in Safari.
