WhatsApp Introduced Optimised Video Calling Feature For Connectivity Issues in India

WhatsApp, the most popular and renowned messaging application will now let users to make video calls too. The Facebook acquired company has been providing new updates with cool features in the application from time to time and now the company is providing video calling feature just like other applications like Skype, Imo etc. The service is free of cost, which will work on your Wi-Fi connection and if not then it will use your cellular data according to your plan.

Jan Koum, co-founder of WhatsApp stated in an interview that the feature will be rolled out to 180 other countries after getting launched in India. Koum also added the India is the biggest market of the company with 160 million monthly active users, and keeping the connectivity issues across the country in mind, company has also optimised this feature to work in low signal areas.

Video Calling on WhatsApp

Koum Said, “We’re obsessed with making sure that voice and video work well even on low-end phones. We want to make these features available to everyone, not just those who can afford the most expensive new phones or live in countries with the best cellular networks.”

WhatsApp has also mentioned that the new feature is introduced keeping the privacy part in mind, which means just like the WhatsApp messages and media, no other person will be able to view your video conferencing, not even the government authorities. This will allow user to communicate with friends, relatives and any other person they want without any fear.

WhatsApp Video Calling

The new video calling feature will work just like WhatsApp calling feature in the application, when you tap at the calling button in any person’s profile you’ll be asked whether you want to make an audio call or a video call. This function will be available to all of the latest upgraded version of the application, so if you’re using an older version, you better upgrade your application to use this feature.

With the availability of this feature, WhatsApp will now compete with Apple’s Facetime, Microsoft owned- Skype and Google’s recently launched Duo in the Video calling market. The feature is getting rolled out to all WhatsApp users worldwide.
