Wi-Fi Calls for AT and T Customers Rolling out from October 8

With the approval of AT&T request in concern to deaf and hard hearing technology, the customers of AT&T will now be able to make calls using their Wi-Fi connection. This facility is currently availed only for US customers. The Wi-Fi enabled calling will rollout in the country starting from October 8. But even after mentioning the specified date, the company has stated that some specified devices will only be granted with this feature. As a remark, AT&T quoted that "Req’s compatible device w/iOS 9 & postpaid wireless svc plan. Domestic use only. Other restr’s apply. Visit www.att.com/wificalling for details."

Wi-Fi will now be gifted as an additional feature to the already in use AT&T network coverage. In America, more than 99 percent users make use of this network coverage. So, adding more to the existing feature list, the company enabled the users to make calls via their Wi-Fi network. This trait will be highly useful at those places where the network coverage will not be sufficient enough making a traditional call.

In case, where not enough network coverage will be available, the mobile phones will automatically detect the nearby Wi-Fi through which you can make your calls without any call drops.

But it is already mentioned that your smart-phone must be supported with the company's compatibility list. To make use of Wi-Fi calling, your device must be compatible with iOS 9, a prepaid wireless connection for HD voice and a Wi-Fi internet connection. With these requirements fulfilled, your Wi-Fi will work in the background without affecting your cellular network. As this service is by default provided by the company, the same number can be used to make the calls without handling any separate application for this. The company will not charge any extra amount to avail this service for the US customers.
