Since the very initial days, when Facebook launched its messenger service; people had to create an account on its website to use it. But, not anymore! Social media giant has announced that users can now start chatting with their friends and family using Facebook Messenger, without logging in or creating an account on Facebook.
According to David Marcus, Head of Messenger "All of us have one or two friends who are not on Facebook and clearly they're the minority at this point." But, he added, "Messaging is such a primary use case we didn't want to make it a prerequisite to have a Facebook account." The company took this step as a result of internal research which showed, some people wanted to use the Messenger but didn't want to have an account.
There are more than 700 million monthly users of the messenger and this update by the social media gargantuan will attract those users that have abandoned the website or find it difficult to use the app. The maneuver can take the number of monthly users as high as 1 billion.
Some of you may ask that how shall one use the app without logging in the actual website? Let's have a look on how can one use the messenger. Now the messenger screen will show the option of "NOT ON FACEBOOK?". Once this option is being clicked the app would ask for your contact number, name and a picture of yours. After entering these details, user can easily use the messenger. From today, this facility has been started in North America which includes Canada, the United States, Peru and Venezuela. It is still unclear that when this service would globally.
