Xiaomi Confirms to Launch MIUI ROM on May 10 Alongside Other Mi Products

Xiaomi - the Chinese conglomerate has confirmed that it will dispatch next variant of its MIUI ROM on May 10. The declaration by the company implies that the upcoming May 10 event will see the release of the Mi Max smartphone which might also be the lead product featuring latest MIUI 8 ROM. In a forum post, the organization also affirmed its plans to dispatch the Mi Band 2 which has been making rounds online from past few weeks.

The company in its official statement said, "Evolving from the first version in 2010, MIUI has served as the operating system for over 150 million across the globe. I am sure all of your devices have updated to the latest version of MIUI 7, no matter you are using stable or developer ROMs. On May 10, we will introduce you MIUI 8, with the features you always wanted and new designs beyond your imagination. New design, with a new experience." The company also shared a video that showcased its upcoming MIUI 8 notification bar which as per reports have received some cosmetic changes.

One must recall that recently, ahead of the May 10 event, Xiaomi's upcoming Mi Band 2 was also spotted and the one wearing it was none other than Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun. As per the picture, Jun was seen wearing a smart band that prominently highlighted the display. Earlier reports had asserted that the next-generation Mi Band would lessen the dependency on the connected smartphones and would sport a little display. The report had also focused on that the display on the new Mi Band would be a highlighting factor and would be the biggest improvement seen by far.

Another important point to note is that Xiaomi Mi Max too was teased by the organization and was seen featuring a similar design language as was seen on the another recently launched handset Xiaomi Mi 5. Much like the device, the Mi Max was seen sporting a home button which was expected to incorporate the fingerprint sensor and not just the front panel, the two devices looked identical on the backside too.

As per the pre-release leaks, Xiaomi Mi Max is expected to feature a massive 6.4-inch full-HD display running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. Under the hood, the device is powered by hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and offering16GB of onboard storage. Additionally, the device sports a 16-megapixel rear camera coupled with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
