The Chinese smartphone and gadgets maker Xiaomi has recently launched a second-generation Mi Band 2 and this band will go on sale from June 7. The smart-gadget has been priced at Rs 1,500 and is the improved version of company's earlier mi band. The new Xiaomi Mi 2 band has been incorporated with new Oled screen and the much-awaited heart rate sensor. As we know that the initial version of Mi band was launched in 2014 and had been priced Rs 790. The company has announced it's availability in China but has not confirmed the global release date.
The Mi Band 2 is very much similar to the other wearables available in the market but has a unique property that helps to track users heart rate in addition to other functionality. The new Xiaomi band offers Bluetooth Wireless connectivity for pairing with the smartphones and like it's the previous version this new band also has been enabled with vibration feature to alert users about incoming calls, alarms, and notifications.
The major highlight of the MI Band 2 is the 0.42-inch OLED display which will show time, steps taken, and heart rate count features. For heart rate sensor the device has been incorporated with the PPG (photoplethysmography) sensor. The new Mi Band has an advanced 7000mAh battery which is being claimed to provide 20 days of standby time. It must be noted that the first generation Mi Band which featured no display had a battery life of up to 30 days.
The new Mi Band 2 wearable comes with 40.3mm length, a width of 15.7mm, and a side width of 10.5mm. The company listing says that the Mi Band 2 weighs just 7 grams and for user comfort, the Mi Band 2 is built of skin-friendly thermoplastic elastomers material and flaunts aluminum as well. Similar to the original Mi Band, the new band will be available in Black, Blue, Green, and Orange colors. The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 and above as well as iOS 7.0 and above and also a water-resistant gadget with IP67 certification.
