YouTube India Released Latest 'Smart Offline' Feature

We all are familiar with the YouTube offline feature, which was launched two years back, with the help of which the user can save videos to their device so that they could be watched later without buffering. In the latest move, the online video streaming company has launched a new feature that is being called "Smart Offline Feature".

The YouTube Smart Offline feature is the icing on the cake as it has enabled users to download a video at cheaper night packs offered by different mobile operators. In the official blog statement, the company said, "Today, we are beginning to roll out a feature called Smart Offline on YouTube that lets you take advantage of these cheaper data rates as offered by your mobile operator, without requiring you to stay up late at night,".

In this Smart feature, once a user clicks on the familiar grey arrow for saving a video offline, a prompt will appear asking you to select “Save Overnight” option. Once the user selects that option the video will be saved and the YouTube will smartly schedule the download after the peak hours of the night, and the video will be ready to be watched as you get up without any buffering.

Currently, the feature is available only for Airtel and Telenor subscribers but will eventually cater all the internet users in India. The Smart Offline will not work on Wi-Fi networks so one had to connect to his mobile operator’s data pack in order to take the benefit of this feature. Also, this feature is available only with the latest YouTube version, so you need to update the application in order to work smart.
