Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) has awarded a 1-star rating to Bajaj Qute. The quadricycle is said to score less than 28 percent in adult occupant safety parameter. The vehicle failed the front collision impact severely as it doesn’t have airbags and the head got stuck to the steering wheel while testing.
The quadricycle Bajaj Qute gets a 217 cc single-cylinder water cooled engine.It measures 2,752mm in length, 1,312mm in width and 1,650mm in height. The engine comes mated to 5-speed manual gearbox, which makes the vehicle attain a top speed of 70 kmph. The quadricycle offers a fuel efficiency of up to 36kmpl.
The test results revealed that the femur and knee protection is not satisfactory, while the neck protection is acceptable. The quadricycle goes unstable in the case of front collision. The vehicle can’t withstand the higher order of load..
Meanwhile, on going through the the side impact test, the dummy’s head hit the side roof railing, which is all because of the missing side curtain airbag or required padding. The chest protection also received poor rating.
