BMW i8 Facelift To Be Introduced in India by Q4 2017

This time BMW boasts about having brought the i8 facelift model with more power and offer exciting components. The automaker has offered an extended range, making some chassis tweaking as well. As the i8 facelift is an hybrid sports car, the carmaker has also added an inductive charging option.

The facelifted version of BMW i8 shall be launching in the global market by quarter 4 of 2017. It will get an upgraded petrol-electric powermill. BMW’s R&D facility in Munich claims that the revised hybrid powertrain will house a more powerful electric motor, delivering 130.78hp of power output. Accompanying the electric motor will be a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which is claimed to propel 10x more power than the current model. The total power output turns out to be 425.82hp. The engine will be mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Additionally, BMW is working on extending the i8 range, while keeping the revised battery package as standard. The battery pack will be pure-electric and hybrid. The carmaker hints about a larger 10 KWh battery that is likely to come with the facelifted i8.

The i8 facelift has also received some significant chassis tuning, making it more aerodynamic and light. BMW has assembled special carbon-fibre wheels in order to keep the weight light . BMW claims that this reduces the weight by up to 25 percent. The launch is expected after the launch of the i8 roadster in the global market. We are expecting to see this facelifted version of i8 in India by next year.
