Accompanying the electric motor will be a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which is claimed to propel 10x more power than the current model. The total power output turns out to be 425.82hp. The engine will be mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Additionally, BMW is working on extending the i8 range, while keeping the revised battery package as standard. The battery pack will be pure-electric and hybrid. The carmaker hints about a larger 10 KWh battery that is likely to come with the facelifted i8.
The i8 facelift has also received some significant chassis tuning, making it more aerodynamic and light. BMW has assembled special carbon-fibre wheels in order to keep the weight light . BMW claims that this reduces the weight by up to 25 percent. The launch is expected after the launch of the i8 roadster in the global market.
