Datsun India Teases Upcoming New Car on Social Media; Appears to be a Crossover

Datsun India posted a silhouette image of its upcoming model on social media and tagged it ‘Redefine Style!’. This new car will most probably be a crossover version of Datsun’s range topping model Go+. Datsun is likely to be unveiled this ‘#ComingSoon’ car in the country during this festive season.

We are not pretty sure about what will it be, but having a closer look on the shadow image, the car looks quite inspired from the Go+ in terms of length, ground clearance and overall body language. It suggests that the new car will be a softer crossover version of the 7-seater.

What changes we can expect on the new Datsun, are sportier front and rear bumper with plastic and silver treatment, lower body cladding for a sportier appearance, both front and rear flared wheel arches, roof rails, larger alloy wheels than the current Go+ wheels, rear diffuser and a roof-mounted spoiler.

Under the hood, it will be carrying a 1.5 DCi diesel motor that is already fitted with the cars like Duster and Terrano. However, the brand may also come up with an all-new powertrain as well. It's quite evident that the automaker is not performing very well and hence this could be a strategy to get hold over the market.

Same as Datsun Go+, the upcoming launch will also have no direct competitor in the Indian market. But considering Indonesia which is also an important market for the brand’s Go+, the new car will rival against the newest launch Toyota Calya. In terms of price of the India-spec upcoming model, it will come with a slightly higher price tag over the regular Go+.
