EICMA 2015: KTM Unveils 2016 Duke 690 and 690 R (Video)

The Austrian two-wheeler maker KTM has come up in the public with the various launches of 2016 models at the 2015 Milan show. The company has introduced its naked street fighter KTM 690, KTM 690R at the ongoing event. Apart from this, the company has also introduced 2016 KTM RC 390 (Slipper Clutch and Ride-By-Wire technology) and 1290 Super Duke GT at the 2015 Milan show. All the 2016 models will be launched globally by the next year.

Moreover, the overall design of KTM 690 remains the same, while the R variant receives a few visual updates to look more appealing than its base model. Both the motorcycles come featured with full color TFT dash which is a massive upgrade over the previous model. Moreover, the Duke 690 R benefits with the three ride modes- Sport, Street and Rain.

Both the motorcycles get a tweak with extra revs of 1000 RPM for a smoother power delivery. KTM 690 and KTM 690R get a new cylinder head, refined exhaust and inlet systems that improve the overall performance as well as make it performance oriented. The standard Duke is powered by single-cylinder and four-stroke motor that returns a claimed 73 BHP of power, whereas the Duke 690 R produces 75 BHP of power. Both these motors execute the power with EURO 4 emission norms.

Along with a fully adjustable front suspension, the KTM 690 R also features KTM’s Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) system, fully front adjustable suspension, KTM’s Motor Slip Regulation system with supermoto mode, Anti-lock Braking System and lean angle Traction Control System. To differentiate the 690R from the regular model, the manufacturer added some visual elements in the R model that includes LED indicators, body graphics and new seat with pillion cover.
