GM India To Export Chevrolet Beat to Argentina For First Time

General Motors India (GM India) has announced that it will export a batch of chevrolet Beat to Argentina by the next month. At present, the Beat model is being manufactured at GM India’s Talegaon manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. The production is carried out in a full fledged manner and the facility ensures around 30 percent of annual production to be exported outside India.

This is going to be the automakers 6th major export. Reportedly, GM India dispatched 3,000 Chevrolet Beats to Mexico in 2015. Besides, the company had already successfully exported left handed Beat to offshore nations like Peru, Chile,Uruguay, Caribbean Countries and central America.

Moreover, the Chevrolet Beat model in particular has witnessed the highest growth rate in the category of passenger vehicle in demand from the international market. It is the sixth most exported Indian passenger vehicle, crossing over 37,082 units of export.

GM India’s president & MD, Kaher Kazem comments, “In keeping with our commitment to the ‘Make in India’ program, we are proud to celebrate the roll-out of the first vehicle for Argentina. The new export market is a testimony to our commitment to provide the highest quality standards to global customers from the Talegaon plant.”

“In 2016, we plan to export over 50,000 vehicles, compared with 21,000 vehicles last calendar year, reinforcing our commitment to the Indian market and our strong local supplier base. This is part of GM’s strategy to make India an export hub for global markets and will help increase capacity utilization at our Talegaon plant. We expect to identify additional export markets going forward,” added Kazem.

However, the Beat model is badged as the Spark outside India. It is available across more than 70 markets globally. The Talegaon manufacturing facility in Maharashtra holds a base capacity of producing 130,000 vehicles.
