Hero MotoCorp Eyeing On to Develop Premium Bikes

With rapidly growing 200cc segment in India, the country’s largest selling two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero is also aiming to develop bikes. Reportedly, it has been known that the company has a plan of introducing a range of motorcycles in coming 18 months. And, the Initiative has been taken by introducing the new Xtreme 200R in the segment.

Also, the company has understood that 200cc segment has a vast room to expand and there are not only a counted products available in this genre. A few of which includes, Bajaj Pulsar NS, TVS Apache RTR 200, etc.

The brand has also confirmed the 200cc segment as its core area of focus via words like, "We have identified the 200cc segment as the main opportunity space for us in the highly-competitive but a rapidly-growing premium segment," a top company executive reveal it in a meet with ET on condition of anonymity.

The leader in the entry-level motorcycle market in India, Hero with the new Xtreme 200R is looking forward in the segment as the motorcycle is built on kind of platform that can further be used to manufacture premium bikes in future. The bikes which we can expect in near future could be the new Karizma with the refined and powerful engine and the Xpluse. Well, the pricing for the lately launched Xtreme 200S is not revealed by the automaker though the chances are it will carry the price sticker nearabout INR 1 lakh. Whereas, the new Karizma will see a more premium price tag.

If talk about the Xpluse that was showcased at the EICMA last year. The specifications of the motorcycle were not unwrapped by the brand. Now expectations suggest, it could be loaded with the similar powertrain used in Xtreme 200R in the different state of tune.

As well as, a network of premium outlets is also expected to sell the upcoming new range of motorcycles. However, this idea is in its nascent stage. More from the Hero will be observed at the forthcoming Auto Expo, a few concepts along with the commuter motorcycle range is expected to unveil there.
