Honda India to Introduce Next Generation Brio in 2017

Honda is reportedly planning to come up with the next generation Honda Brio in India by the year 2017. The hatchback was introduced for the first time in India in the year 2011, but could not succeed in the market. The lack of modern equipments in the interior and absence of a power-packed diesel motor resulted adversely affected the performance of Brio. Now, the company is preparing to introduce the next generation version of this model with various cosmetic changes and a modified powertrain.

Positioned below the Honda Jazz, this car will continue to be based on the same platform as the current Brio. It is likely to feature a smaller windscreen, standard tailgate and newly designed interior portions. The current version is equipped with a 1.2 litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 86.8 Bhp of output and return 19.4 kmpl of mileage. With the upcoming version, Honda is likely to offer a 1.1 litre, V12, i-DTEC engine along with both manual and automatic transmission systems.

Nowadays, majority of the cars carry hi-tech components as well as comfort features like infotainment facility with Bluetooth connectivity, parking sensors, etc. Besides this, the car's performance in terms of mileage and boot space are also important factors in persuading the customers to buy a particular model.

Currently, the hatchback models like Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Swift are counted among successful vehicles because of the diesel motor and modern amenities they carry. Thus, the idea of next generation Brio apparently clarifies that Honda is gearing up to fight for a larger market share particularly in the hatchback segment.
